Prof. Tomas Brage will give the keynote talk within the Women’s Career Day 2018. The talk is open to everyone from all research areas and disciplines.

In his talk “Objectivity is all that Matters!? The Dynamics of Science and Gender in Physics”, Prof. Tomas Brage (Lund University) takes a closer and concise look on “what gender has to do with physics”. Physics is often seen, by physicists not the least, as an objective science that surrounds us all by a “culture without culture”. At the same time our history, class- and board rooms are (still) dominated by men. This is a clear paradox that should awaken the curiosity of anyone.

Mildred Dresselhaus Guestprofessor 2016, Cristiane Morais Smith, will give a short welcome address.

Please register for the talk by sending an email to marie.lutz@cfel.de.

Date: 12 April 2018, 6 p.m.

Venue: Campus Bahrenfeld, CFEL, SR I-III, Luruper Chaussee 149, 22761 Hamburg

Free drinks and snacks will be provided.
