Denise Erb and Timon Mehrling (DESY and Universität Hamburg) have both received the Promotionspreis 2015 of the Verein der Freunde und Förderer des DESY. The prize is given to an excellent doctoral thesis finished between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015.
Within her thesis, CUI scientist Denise Erb developed a technique to produce nanomaterials by self-organization. Timon Mehrling focussed on the preservation of beam emittance in modern plasma accelerators.
