The CUI New Year’s Reception for invited guests on Wednesday, 20 January, starts at 6 pm in the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL, build. 99, Luruper Chaussee 149). As a highlight of this year’s reception, the Mildred Dresselhaus Award 2015 will be given to Prof. Dr. Elspeth Garman, University of Oxford, and Dr. Liesbeth Janssen, Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf, who will both be doing research at CUI in 2016. After der ceremony the guest are invited to experience science: How does cristallography sound, how do ultra thin fibers evolve, how do sound waves look like? Finally, (at approx. 7:30 pm) CUI invites to a casual meal and drinks.
