Abstract:

“Gender, Neo-liberalism and Research in the Global Knowledge Economy”
Neoliberalism underpins the global academy, where research is economised and financialised, and knowledge is valued for its commercial, market, and financial benefits. As neoliberalism casts people as human capital who must constantly tend to their own present and future value, Prof. Louise Morley asks if this neoliberalisation of research has different consequences for women and men. Does it reinforce gendered binaries of winners and losers in the global knowledge economy?”
